When it comes to secrets, nobody has capitalized on them more than Brad Meltzer. The Bestselling author whose latest book, The House of Secrets, is in stores now, has made a career out of researching and writing about secrets and conspiracies both in his novels and while hosting the hit television show Brad Meltzer’s Decoded, which aired on the History Channel.
If you’ve followed Meltzer at all, then there’s a good chance you’ve heard him mention the “secret note” that George H.W. Bush left in the oval office for Bill Clinton. Apparently, Bush actually shared this note with Meltzer years ago.
The Author first revealed the note a few years back and even wrote about it on his official website, providing insight into how the topic even came up. You can read his full account here, and I definitely recommend that you do!
So while the note, and it’s content, isn’t exactly new news, it’s still pretty darn cool. It’s also relevant because Meltzer just posted about it on his Facebook page, uploading an actual image of the hand-written note. Scroll down to check it out.
The note reads:
Dear Bill,
When I walked into this office just now I felt the same sense of wonder and respect that I felt four years ago. I know you will feel that too.
I wish you great happiness here. I never felt the loneliness some Presidents have described.
There will be very tough times, made even more difficult by criticism you may not think is fair. I’m not a very good one to give advice; but just don’t let the critics discourage you or push you off course.
You will be our President when you read this note. I wish you well. I wish your family well.
Your success now is our country’s success. I am rooting hard for you.
