Virgil Flowers Set To Return In John Sandford’s ‘Deep Freeze’ Later This Year

John Sandford’s Virgil Flowers is set to return on October 3, in Deep Freeze, the tenth novel in the author’s bestselling series.

Flowers was last seen in Escape Clause (2016), where he investigated the disappearance of two endangered tigers, which were kidnapped from a local zoo. In his next adventure, Flowers will revisit the town of Trippton, Minnesota, where he previously investigated a murder connected to the local school board. This time, though, he’ll be looking into a chilling murder–literally–as a woman’s body has been found in a block of ice. Check out the official plot details below:

Virgil knows the town of Trippton, Minnesota, a little too well. A few years back, he investigated the corrupt – and as it turned out, homicidal – local school board, and now the town’s back in view with more alarming news: A woman’s been found dead, frozen in a block of ice. There’s a possibility that it might be connected to a high school class of twenty years ago that has a mid-winter reunion coming up, and so, wrapping his coat a little tighter, Virgil begins to dig into twenty years’ worth of traumas, feuds, and bad blood. In the process, one thing becomes increasingly clear to him. It’s true what they say: High school is murder.

This isn’t the author’s only novel scheduled for release in 2017, as Golden Prey, the twenty-seventh installment in Sandford’s Lucas Davenport franchise, comes out on April 25th. While October is still a long ways off, Deep Freeze is already available for pre-order here
