According to a report from The Sunday Morning Herald, “Eric Bana will act in his first Australian movie since 2007’s Romulus, My Father, starring as Aaron Falk in the feature adaptation of Jane Harper’s bestselling novel The Dry.”

The report then goes on to say that, “Robert Connolly, who produced Romulus, will direct, from a script he has co-written with Harry Cripps (co-writer with Tim Minchin of the ill-fated Dreamworks animated movie Larrikins).”

51MFa84Sb9L._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_.jpgReleased in 2017, Harper’s debut stunned readers on its way to becoming an instant New York Times bestseller. #1 bestselling author David Baldacci raved that every word in The Dry is “near perfect,” while the New York Times book review called it “a breathless page-turner.” The story follows Federal Agent Aaron Falk, who returns to his hometown for the first time in years to attend the funeral of Luke, his best friend growing up. It’s later revealed that twenty years prior, Falk was accused of murder, a charge that didn’t stick thanks to a testimony from Luke, who provided an alibi for Aaron by claiming they were together at the time of the murder.

With Luke dead, only Aaron really knows what happened that night, or so he thinks . . . until a mysterious person claims to also know the truth–forcing Falk to re-examine Luke’s murder under the assumption that there might be more to his friend’s death than he first thought.

Force of Nature, the follow-up to The Dry, came out in early 2018. Harper’s next novel, The Lost Man, is a standalone novel that is currently slated to hit U.S. bookstores on February 5, 2019.

Praised as “one of today’s finest book reviewers” by New York Times bestselling author Gayle Lynds, Ryan Steck (“The Godfather of the thriller genre” — Ben Coes) has “quickly established himself as the authority on mysteries and thrillers” (Author A.J. Tata). He currently lives in Southwest Michigan with his wife and their six children.
