Brad Thor Announces the Title for His 18th Scot Harvath Thriller

Brad Thor 1On June 11th, 2019, Scot Harvath returns in Backlash, the next must-read, action-packed thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor.

Thor made the announcement in a recent newsletter, which you can sign up for here. Though plot details are still unknown, we do know that this is the 18th book in Thor’s Scot Harvath series and will follow Spymaster (2018), which, based on how that book ends, gives us a pretty good idea where Backlash is heading.

Minor spoilers ahead . . .

Without giving Spymaster away, Harvath was basically told by the president to do whatever was necessary to keep Russia from drawing the United States into war by attacking its NATO allies. Harvath does just that, while Lydia Ryan, the newly appointed head of the Carlton Group, searches for a Russian mole.

Meanwhile, Reed Carlton, the original spymaster and Scot’s mentor, has dementia. His once steel-trap of a mind has suddenly begun betraying him, as top secret info begins slipping out of his mouth around medical personnel. At one point, Harvath even refers to Carlton as a “loose nuke,” as they try to figure out how to better protect Reed and the information he possesses.

Then came a wicked, jaw-dropping cliffhanger that’s honestly too good to spoil here. Bottom line: depending on how that scene plays out in the opening of the next book, it’s easy to see how there could be significant backlash for those involved . . . hence the title.

Backlash is available for pre-order here or anywhere else books are sold. For more updates, make sure you’re signed up for Thor’s newsletter and that you’re following him on Twitter and Facebook.
