John le Carre’s ‘Agent Running in the Field’ Gets Cover and Official Pub Date

Two years after treating readers to his last espionage thriller, A Legacy of Spies, legendary spy novelist John le Carre is set to release his 25th book, Agent Running in the Field, on October 22, 2019.

While Legacy serves as a sequel of sorts to The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1963) and marked the return of George Smiley who had previously last been seen in the 1991 thriller The Secret Pilgrim, the author’s next novel will step away from Smiley and focus on a new character. See the plot details (which are still pretty vague) and the cover art below.

In his plot and characterization, le Carré is as thrilling as ever and in the way he writes about our times he proves himself, once again, to be the greatest chronicler of our age.
