TOTAL POWER: Mitch Rapp Set to Return in New Novel from Kyle Mills

On September 15, 2020, Mitch Rapp is back in Total Power, the latest novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kyle Mills.

Last September, during an interview that primarily focused on his last book, Mills teased his 2020 release by telling me, “I’m going to have a new challenge for [Rapp]. Mitch always saves the day, and this one will start with him not saving the day . . . and then the rest of the book will be about how he deals with it.”

Well, now we know exactly what Rapp is forced to deal with, and let’s just say that in a way, after two decades roughing it in third-world countries while chasing bad guys, he’s spent his entire adult life preparing for this moment.

Following the events of Lethal Agent (2019), a storyline that included the creation of a deadly virus that was later weaponized by ISIS, Rapp—who returns for his 19th adventure—will now take on what is shaping up to be his toughest mission yet when terrorists successfully collapse America’s electrical grid.

Total Power (the title was just released Friday morning in an interactive social media post that allowed fans to be part of the reveal—watch it here) is Mills’ sixth contribution to the series since taking over following the passing of Vince Flynn, who first introduced readers to Mitch Rapp in the 1999 novel, Transfer of Power, and the final book on his current three-year deal that was signed back in 2017.

(Fun fact: Total Power is the fourth Rapp book to feature the word “power” in the title—Transfer of Power, Separation of Power, and Executive Power—and first since 2003.)

TOTAL POWER Promo CoverIn the next thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling Mitch Rapp series, it’s a race against the clock when ISIS takes down the entire US power grid and throws America into chaos.

When Mitch Rapp captures ISIS’s top technology expert, he reveals that he was on his way to meet a man who claims to have the ability to bring down America’s power grid. Rapp is determined to eliminate this shadowy figure, but the CIA’s trap fails.

The Agency is still trying to determine what went wrong when ISIS operatives help this cyber-terrorist do what he said he could—plunge the country into darkness. With no concept of how this unprecedented act was accomplished, the task of getting the power back on could take months. Perhaps even years.

Rapp and his team embark on a desperate search for the only people who know how to repair the damage—the ones responsible. But his operating environment is like nothing he’s experienced before. Computers and communication networks are down, fuel can no longer be pumped from gas stations, water and sanitation systems are on the brink of collapse, and the supply of food is running out.

Can Rapp get the lights back on before America descends irretrievably into chaos?
