Jack Carr’s ‘Red Sky Mourning’ Release Pushed Back to June 18th

Someone once said that you “can’t rush greatness,” and for #1 New York Times bestselling author Jack Carr, getting the story right—and ensuring his fans have the best possible reading experience—is the most important thing when it comes to releasing a new book. Period. Even if it means pushing the publication back a month, which is exactly what he’s done in order to wrap up his next James Reece thriller, Red Sky Mourning, properly.

At this point, if you don’t know who Jack Carr is, you’re doing life wrong. The closest thing we have to whatever prime Tom Clancy might have looked like in 2024, Carr is a bonafide celebrity author with a massively successful hit book series, one TV show (based on his work) blowing up the Prime Video charts, and another show (a prequel series) on the way. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, he’s also done numerous brand partnerships, hosts a mega-popular podcast, and even has several nonfiction books slated for release.

All in all, the former Navy SEAL is crushing it.

From pictures on-set with actor Chris Pratt (who plays his hero, James Reece) to kicking it with Pat McAfee on the Pat McAfee Show or swinging by Joe Rogan’s podcast, Carr—who is both humble and down-to-earth—is everywhere these days. Not only is he reaching readers and audiences other writers haven’t come close to enticing, but Carr has actually made reading cool again.

Having covered him since before his first book exploded onto the scene back in 2018, I can tell you first-hand that Jack Carr hasn’t changed a bit, even through all of his success. A self-proclaimed lifelong fan of thrillers, there’s no doubt that Carr is himself now telling some of the best stories on bookstore shelves today, and in my opinion, his willingness to push back the release date for his seventh James Reece novel only highlights just how important it is to him to make sure he delivers the best story possible. He said as much in a video that went out across his social media accounts on March 24th (see below), announcing that Red Sky Mourning will now be available on June 18th, back from the original release date of May 14th.

Considering that it’s one of the most anticipated new releases of the year and now promises also to be Carr’s longest book to date, Red Sky Mourning is a must-read for anyone who claims to love thrillers.
