On August 25, 2020, Jason Bourne finally returns to action in The Bourne Evolution, the all-new thriller from bestselling author Brian Freeman.
Back in December of 2018, we reported exclusively that Eric Van Lustbader, the longtime contributor to Robert Ludlum’s mega-popular franchise, was ready to step away from the series. Lustbader’s final book, The Bourne Initiative, came out in 2017, and until reports surfaced earlier this year that veteran writer Brian Freeman (Alter Ego, 2018, etc.) had been picked to take over the series moving forward, a cloud of mystery hung around Bourne for nearly two years.
Now, almost eight months after the news of Freeman coming on board, we finally have our first look at the cover art for The Bourne Evolution, along with some new plot details, which until now had been kept mostly under wraps.
After the death of his wife in a mass shooting, secret agent Jason Bourne is convinced that there is more to her murder than it seems. Worse, he believes that the agency that trained him and made him who he is—Treadstone—is behind the killing. Bourne goes rogue, leaving Treadstone behind and taking on a new mission to infiltrate and expose an anarchist group, Medusa. But when a congresswoman is assassinated in New York, Bourne is framed for the crime, and he finds himself alone and on the run, hunted by both Treadstone and the tech cabal who had hired him.
In his quest to stay one step ahead of his enemies, Bourne teams up with a journalist, Abbey Laurent, to figure out who was behind the frame-up, and to learn as much as he can about the ever-growing threat of the mysterious Medusa group. As more and more enemies begin to hunt Bourne, it’s a race against the clock to discover who led him into a trap . . . and what their next move may be.
