Michael Connelly’s Next Lincoln Lawyer Book Announced (with Details)

On November 10th, LAPD defense attorney Mickey Haller—star of The Lincoln Lawyer—rides back into action in an all-new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly.

Haller, aside from The Lincoln Lawyer (2005), has also stared in The Brass Verdict (2008), The Reversal (2010), The Fifth Witness (2011), and The Gods of Guilt (2013). The half-brother of Harry Bosch—Connelly’s most famous character—Haller has also appeared in numerous other Bosch novels in a supporting role over the years, including last year’s The Night Fire.

While Haller’s sixth featured book is still untitled, the plot details have already been released, and this time around, Mickey finds himself behind bars and accused of a murder he didn’t commit.

New Lincoln LawyerLincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller is back in the heartstopping new thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly.

Defense attorney Mickey Haller is pulled over by police, who find the body of a client in the trunk of his Lincoln. Haller is charged with murder and can’t make the exorbitant $5 million bail slapped on him by a vindictive judge.

Mickey elects to defend himself and must strategize and build his defense from his jail cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles, all the while looking over his shoulder–as an officer of the court he is an instant target.

Mickey knows he’s been framed. Now, with the help of his trusted team, he has to figure out who has plotted to destroy his life and why. Then he has to go before a judge and jury and prove his innocence.

In his highest-stakes case yet, Mickey Haller fights for his life and shows why he is “a worthy colleague of Atticus Finch . . . in the front of the pack in the legal thriller game” (Los Angeles Times).

2020 will be another two-book year for Connellywhose third Jack McEvoy novel, Fair Warning, comes out on May 26th—though it will be the first time since 2013 that he won’t release a new Bosh novel.

McEvoy, a veteran reporter, served as Connelly’s protagonist in both The Poet (1996) and The Scarecrow (2009). We’ll have full coverage of that book, including a Featured Review, on The Real Book Spy in the coming weeks.

In other Michael Connelly news, the sixth season of the critically acclaimed Amazon-produced television show Bosch, starring Titus Welliver, comes out this week. It’s already been renewed for the seventh and final season, which is slated to begin filming sometime this summer.

Though fans will no doubt miss Bosch, a Lincoln Lawyer show is in the works from David E. Kelley at CBS and has already scored a series commitment. Matthew McConaughey, who’s brilliant portrayal of Haller in the 2011 film with the same name earned him praise from critics and viewers, will not be reprising his role for the small screen. As of the time of this article, the role has not yet been cast, and it’s currently unknown how the effects of COVID-19, which has forced much of Hollywood (and the rest of the world) into a standstill, might impact the anticipated first season—though we should get an update on that soon.

Readers excited to pre-order the next Mickey Haller novel can now do so here, or anywhere else books are sold.
