On May 3, Matt Drake returns to action in Hostile Intent, the highly-anticipated new novel from New York Times bestselling author Don Bentley, and Book Spy Readers are getting an exclusive first look in the form of a full chapter excerpt.
Bentley, who first burst onto the scene in 2020 with his acclaimed debut, Without Sanction, continued that hot streak by following Mike Maden and taking over the Jack Ryan Junior series. His first book in the Ryanverse, Tom Clancy Target Acquired was an instant New York Times bestseller and was well-received by both critics and diehard Clancy fans.
Proving to be a workhorse, Bentley kept his own series going on top of penning the Clancy books, and this year’s Hostile Intent, book three in the Drake series, is perhaps his very best work to date. This time around, following the events of The Outside Man (2021), Matt is headed to Vienna where a mysterious person claims to have key information regarding a Russian operation. As always, it doesn’t take very long for things to go pear-shaped, and soon the bullets start flyin’ as Matt races to try and stop World War III before it’s too late.
