Fan-Favorite Spenser Set to Return in Mike Lupica’s ‘Robert B. Parker’s Hot Property’

On November 26th, 2024, Spenser, the beloved hero of Robert B. Parker’s New York Times bestselling series, is set to take on an all-new case in Robert B. Parker’s Hot Property, the latest novel from Mike Lupica.

Spenser, a Boston-based private investigator first introduced in the 1973 novel The Godwulf Manuscript, is arguably Parker’s most beloved character. The late author himself churned out forty books in that series alone, on top of all of his other writing projects—including other notable franchises centered around characters such as Jesse Stone, Sunny Randall, and Virgil Cole. Parker’s final Spenser novel, Sixkill, was released in 2011 (following his death in 2010). Author Ace Atkins eventually signed on to continue Sepnser’s legacy, and from 2012 to 2022, wrote ten books in Parker’s series, including Bye Bye Baby, before author Mike Lupica—who had already been writing Parker’s Jesse Stone—took over in 2023, releasing Robert B. Parker’s Broken Trust last fall.

For Lupica, one of the most prominent and respected sports writers alive today, that makes 2024 another multi-book year. In addition to his own lengthy backlist, Lupica signed on to replace Reed Farrel Coleman and take over the Jesse Stone series back in 2019. His first book in that franchise, Robert B. Parker’s Fool’s Paradise, hit bookstores back in 2020, and Lupica has been a huge part of Parker’s universes ever since, having also been the first writer to continue the Sunny Randall series (Robert B. Parker’s Blood Feud, 2018), before Alison Gaylin took over in 2023.

In addition to Robert B. Parker’s Hot Property, Lupica—who has established himself as one of the busiest, most well-rounded, and saught-after writers working today—is also set to release Hard To Kill, a Jane Smith thriller that he co-authored with #1 New York Times mega-bestseller James Patterson. on July 29th.

And family will always be protected.

Both a pit bull in the courtroom and provocateur outside it, though, Rita is no stranger to controversy. But as one of the city’s toughest lawyers, Spenser knows that there’s no short list of suspects who might want to enact revenge. With Rita’s life hanging in the balance, it’s up to him to get to the bottom of things, even if it means unearthing some savory secrets.
